Reebok was founded in 1895 in Bolton Lancashire although founder Joseph William Foster had been making spiked running shoes 5 years prior to this. It wasn’t actually until 1958 that the company adopted the name Reebok as until then it was known as JW Foster and Sons.
A Reebok is a grey antelope and the African way of spelling it is Reebok which is how Joe Foster saw it in an African dictionary he had won in a running race.
Reebok have made many great shoes over the years for all kinds of sport and are still one of the biggest trainer brands around. In 2005 Reebok became part of the Adidas group and Reebok are still making some of their classic trainers which look as good today as they ever did.
