Clarks began life in Street, Somerset way back in 1825 when James Clark was working in his brother’s tannery. To start with it was Sheepskin rugs they were knocking out until James had the bright idea of making slippers.
Over the years the slippers developed into proper footwear with comfort being the forefront of the designs and with this their reputation grew in to them being recognised as one of the best shoe brands in the world.
Clarks have always made comfortable, practical and wearable footwear and over the years have been worn by some of the coolest people around with styles such as Desert Boots, Wallabee and Desert Trek all now firm favourites in the Clarks Originals range.
The Clarks Company is still controlled by the Clarks family in the same Somerset town of Street where it all began but a far cry from sheepskin rugs and slippers Clarks Originals shoes are seen on the feet of Rock Stars and Cool Kids.
