Champion was founded in Rochester, New York back in 1919 by brothers Bill and Abe Feinbloom.
It wasn’t until 1919 that the invented the Reverse Weave Sweatshirt which they are now famous for. This clever invention see’s the sweatshirts woven horizontally rather than the traditional vertical weave that conventional sweatshirt manufacturers use, the horizontal weave stops the sweat from shrinking in the wash so it really was a great idea.
Champion Reverse Weave sweats disappeared from the UK for many years which made them even more sought after, you’d get an odd lucky find in a vintage shop or on ebay but not much at all.
2015 saw the welcome return of Champion Reverse Weave to the UK so now you can buy a premium sweat that will wash and wear for many years and you won’t have the worry of your missus shrinking it.
